Friend of mine is a CEC applicant and already got his AOR, but recently he got laid off from job. Can he apply for Employment Insurance (EI)? If he applies for EI, would it have any effects on his immigration process?

Experts please advise!
Thanks.

Can temporary resident apply for EI? I don't think they are eligible.
I am sure he needs to inform CIC about the layoff once he receive ppr.

Yes, temporary residents are eligible for EI. The thumb rule is they need to complete at least one year of employment with the employer who has laid off or shut down.

Hope this helps.

whenever anyone receives Aor email, it is clearly mentioned there that you are suppose to fill cse in case of change in any circumstance, if cic is not informed about change in job or unemployment than application will be rejected
