hi,
I am a permanent card holder here in Edmonton, Alberta. My wife is giving birth this September who is out of the country right now. I'm still working and will pass my leave application from my work in late August.
I was wondering if I could qualify for EI if my wife is NOT a Permanent/Citizen here in canada because one of the requirements for me to qualified for EI is,
When you apply for EI parental benefits, you must provide:
1. the date of birth of your newborn or, in the case of an adoption, the date on which your child was placed with you (you must also provide the full name and address of the agency handling the adoption); and
2. SIN of the other parent, if you plan to share the benefits.
For sure she does not have SIN. Please advise.
Thank you,
Jeremie
