Hello All,

My contract was ended in December 2019 and the reason given in my Record of Employment document is Shortage of Work/ End of contract or season
Am I eligible for the EI and can I claim for the lost month's i.e from January 2020 to till now

And I came to my home country for a vacation and also got stucked here

Can I apply it in Online or do I need to start the process when I go to Canada

Thanks

Unfortunately NO, you need to reside in Canada to be eligible for EI and CERB. One of my friend traveled back home and still reported to receive EI, then CRA checked back later and got the money back.

read this:One measure we take to enforce this rule is to compare EI information with information from the Canada Border Services Agency. If we find you have been out of the country while collecting benefits, we will determine whether you were entitled to receive those benefits. If you were not entitled to receive them, we will calculate how much we overpaid you, and you will then have to repay the benefits.

You didn’t lose your job, your contract ended and it has been months. You haven’t even been in Canada looking for employment for the past 3-4 months.
