Hello

I have more than 3 years in teaching at university level (full time, paid holidays). The only problem is that the working hours for my job where i am amount to less than 30 hrs/week.

What should I do? :(

Also

If I start an EE application, will I be able to apply for a tourist/student visa?

30 hrs/week is a mandatory requirement and unfortunately, if you do not satisfy this, you are not eligible to apply :( .

I am not sure about your second question but I think it should not be a problem.

what if I round up my total working hours based on EE requirement (1560 hrs=1 year FT)? and explain my case in the "additional explanation" section? is it risky?!!

how do you fill the experience section on the CIC account?

You could have worked 1560 hours/year but they explicitly state that you have to have worked at least 30 hours/week. When you are submitting your reference letter, it must contain proof that you have been working for at least 30 hours/week.

EDIT :

Please refer to Asivad's post. If your experience is less that 30 hours/week, then it is considered part time.

No you are eligible to apply for expression of interest. Your 3 years experience would be count as 1 year of experience. But you first need to find your noc and job responsibilities. If it matches then you are eligible for sure

Your experience is valid but it will be considered full-time only if you have at least 30 hours/week. Anything less than that will be considered part-time so you might still be eligible but you will get less than 3 years for your work experience. The actual figure will depend on how many hours/week you have worked in the past 3 years.

Make sure if you are asking for reference letter from your employer then don not consider yourself as a full time paid employee but as a part time. Because your working hours falls in part time category. I am not sure if your teaching experience is less than 30hrs. I believe it must be 30hrs, i dont know how you have calculated your working hours

Thanks for that info Asivad. I will edit my answer as it is misleading!

Have you started filling up the profile? If I recall correctly, it asks you for start date/month and end date/month of work experience along with number of hours/week of work. Mention that and the system calculates accordingly.

You can certainly apply for visitor/study visa simultaneously.

You don't have to explain anything now. Any explanation can be made after you get an ITA. If you are entering all the required information truthfully, you will not be charged with misrepresentation or banned from Canada.

Full Time
30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)

Part time
15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
Or
30 hours/week for 12 months at more than one job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
