EE taking more than 6 months

Hey everybody.
I recieved my ITA last year and applied back within a month. It has been over 6 months now and I aa yet to recieve PPR. As of late, are the applications taking make than 6 months because my friend's application is currently over 8 months and he did not recieve the PPR yet too.
My status says: we are processing your background check. This status has remained unchanged since the past 3 to 4 months

I am asking my cousin, who is a PR for gcms. Can't order it myself since I did the filing without a lawyer or an agent

IRCC is officially recognizing that 20% of the applications are more than 6 months. Seems like that will be the new norm. Heres my status from the GCkey account from IRCC website. If you have access to it you will see a similar message:
Application status
We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you.

Your application is taking us longer than usual to process.

About 20% of our applications are more complex to process. They take us longer due to things like how easily we can verify information, how well and how quickly you answer our requests and whether the application is complete.

It was on the last day of 6 month period that I got the status as "it is taking more than normal time ......." And the same day, I posted this query. The very next day, I got my PPR. I am answering this from Canada. Good luck with your application
