Hi all, I went an updated my profile about 2 hrs ago. The update was in regards to the amount of money I can bring in which is $12K +. At the moment it still only says I am eligible for CEC (not FSW). When I go through and tick off the FSW list I have 71 points (higher than the cut-off of 67). Apart from that all other factors satisfied. The only reason I can think of for not being eligible for FSW as well is that you need to have an LMIA job.

Appreciate if anyone can shed any light on this? Anyone tried to update their profile and found the score/status of the profile not change?

Why would you want to be eligible for FSW? There is zero difference in application processing between the 2 streams with CEC holding the slight advantage of not requiring you to showcase POF.

Plus you don't need an LMIA job for FSW eligibility.

Hi Asivad, its not that I want to be eligible for FSW. I was just thinking of the situation I discussed this morning whereby my 1 yr (365 days) of Canadian work comes up on 1 December. I was just thinking that if I were to get an ITA if they had a draw in Nov, then at least if I were eligible for FSW, I wouldn't have to reject it.

Do you have any thoughts on this?

It might be alright to submit your application after 1st December or, if you have enough points, to decline that ITA and wait for another one to come along. Or if you have enough funds readily available for POF, no harm in tweaking your profile as you're doing now to gain FSW eligibility.

All the best!

Hi Asivad, thank you for your advice. After adjusting my profile yesterday to reflect an increase in Funds I received an Email advising me my profile had been updated. When I go into the profile it states I am eligible for 'FSW' and 'CEC'. I assume this means if I get an ITA before 1 Dec under FSW I can accept it? Even though the system shows I am getting points for 1 year of Canadian Work Experience as the EE profile gives points (on a months) not days basis. Appreciate your insight.

To be eligible for CEC , are the looking for completion of 365 days ? I remebr reading something like 30 hrs per week for a certain amount of time would let u be eligible for CEC .. is that true ??

This is what I'm uncertain about. If you include today, 'I've worked for 342 days (including weekends/public holidays etc.) The wording on the CIC website is the following:

"Have at least 12 months of full time (or the equivalent in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada with the proper authorization in the 3 years before they apply"

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/hire/cec.asp

The problem is even if you only work 1 day in the month, the system calculates this as '1 month'. I only raised the issue as I thought the immigration officers would say '12 months' is '365 days' and then add up the days in each job or jobs.

What do you think?

In the same page , just below the above mentioned sentence they have given explanation for "full time" which is

Full Time

30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)

Part time

15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
OR
30 hours/week for 12 months at more than one job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)

So i belive to qualify for CEC all they want u to do is complete 1560 hours . Coz in my ee profile the day i crossed 1560 hours (40 hrs per week is my working hrs) i got points for cec catogary n it showed i met critiria for the smae...

I see, I never thought about it that way. I guess this means that it could be done in 39 weeks (just a tick under 10 months). The words 'at least' would suggest that even if the 1,560 hrs threshold has been crossed prior to 12 months. They take the '12 month' mark as a requirement.
