At this point, nobody knows for sure (I suspect including CIC). Anyone who says they do is likely mistaken.

What we do know are some of the published targets. We have some data, and from what they are saying, they won't make them if they keep the score where it is, and hit the LMIA numbers from last year.

The fertility rate in Canada has dropped, and Canada wants to maintain their growth (in part for economic reasons). Immigration is a part of making this happen.

To maintain their targets, immigration will need to increase. This means three likely outcomes:

1) They won't make their targets
2) They will increase the LMIAs to make their targets
3) They will decrease the score to make their targets

2 and 3 can both happen together.

If they hand out lots of LMIAs, the score won't need to drop a lot (since lots of people will have over 600). If they hand out very few, the score will drop more (since very few people will). Alternatively, they can just not make targets, in which case next year will likely be better.

Scenario 2 is not as good for you, but your employer will have an easier time if you go that route. Scenario 3 is better for you. Scenario 1 is not good.

So I'm Screwed. : :-\ . I will go back to my country and work there instead of paying 23000 taxes from my salary every year to canadian govt.

There should be an option for international students with more than 2 years of work experience and had a masters degree to apply easily. Any how i will try to get lima if not wait for my turn for 450 or good bye to canada

I almost paid 48000 doll of tax just frm my salary pheeww i would not have done it if i know canada only accepts people from tcs, accenture ...etc where people can come for 1 year onsite and settle down as permanent resident yaaay FRUSTRATION

For what it's worth, I suspect it will be that low by September. It's just speculation, however - nobody knows, and what is known is subject to change.

As for the taxes, that's just the cost of living here. I pay more in taxes here than I did in the states, whether I get permanent residency or not. It'd be cheaper for me to rent a place in the states (while living here) to keep my taxes low, but I don't do that. I use the services here, the roads here, so it's only fair for me to pay my share here.

A TON of us have been in this same boat. For international graduates our options are either get nomination or wait. For myself....nova scotia opened up a new PNP stream that made things a lot easier for international students and I was lucky enough to get through. You said you paid 48000 in tax...either you have an awesome salary or you've been working for more than a year. how long have you been working in canada for?

It came close. 451 points instead of 450.
