June 2013 applicants, Edmonton office, please share your timeline!

1. The whole of Alberta with its increasing PR population and citizenship applicant pool is served by 3 Citizenship Judges. 2 are for Calgary and the South Alberta area (Local Office is Calgary). 1 is for Edmonton to cover north Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

2. The number of CJs while an issue is a smokescreen - the problem is no one knows how many Citizenship Officers are in each of the Local Offices (LO) and how many files they have active. If one was to take the general view that the number of employed citizenship applicants would be more than the national average (given AB's better employment market) then there would be a lower ratio of RQ issuance so this isn't holding up the process significantly. Something is wrong at the LO level because their counterparts in Ontario (GTA) are processing routine applications to completion within 6-8 months compared to 16-22 months in AB...the ON staff for sure aren't being paid 4 to 5 times as much!
