Can anyone tell me what is likely to be happening with my record on Ecas? I can access some details by keying in my UCI and my sponsor's details (we live together) and then clicking on my name, which is underlined. That search reveals that my application for permanent residency is in progress and the date CIC started work on it. I had been hoping to see an acknowledgment that the final tranche of the fees had been paid, but Ecas is silent about that. What puzzles me most however is that I am unable to access any details on Ecas by searching against my own name, date of birth etc. Ecas apparently knows nothing about me if I go about the search that way. Probably it is not important: I am in no particular hurry to know what is happening and am reasonably satisfied with the information I get by using my sponsor's name and details. But I am curious to know why my search using my own name gives no results. Any suggestions?

you can only search by providing Sponsor's name not by the applicant's name dear!

Of course you can search providing the principal applicants name.

But to do that, when you chose the application type you must select "Permanent Residence from outside/inside Canada" (outside for outland application, inside for inland). At the end, provide the application number, not your spouse's UCI.

If you chose "Sponsorship", you will not find anything under your name, because your spouse is the one that applied for sponsorship. Your application is for PR :)

Eureka! I have been using the UCI not the application number! But the details are the same. The only comfort is that they do know I exist. Thank you Betina

Whoa never knew this

Just so you folks know, not only does the sponsor have a UCI number, but the applicant will also have a UCI number of their own. If you entered canada on a visitor record or tourist visa, that SHOULD have your UCI number printed on it somewhere. That UCI number will follow you for this entire process to ensure all your records are kept together in the system. I can check my case status using my UCI number and information or check via hubbys' sponsorship uci and his information.

I can look up mine from either the UCI# or the Application#, or my sponors info. Even when you can look it up though, ECAS updates are rather random and unpredictable. Although CIC says its typically updated on Tuesday, it seems that a lot of the time it updates on another day. Some people even get their updates on weekends and at any time of day or night. If your status changes in the office and the worker inputs that into the system, it seems funny that it would wait hours or days to update itself. Does anybody know if CIC has people working night and weekend shifts?
