Hello Experts,

I have a BSc degree(3 Years) from an Indian university. The university is accredited unfortunately with rating B++.
WES has assessed my degree as 'Three years of undergraduate study' owing to the fact that the university doesn't have rating 'A'.

I am really confused whether I can apply for express entry with this assessment. In the mapping table I can't find the '3 years undergraduate study' anywhere in the three year Bachelor's degree.

Does this mean that I will not be eligible apply for the Canadian immigration?

Thanks and Regards,
j

Thanks 21Goose for your reply. however I was not able to find ' 3 years of undergraduate' in the conversion table.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp.

But are you sure that undergraduate 3 years' can appy under "Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute"

Thansk a lot for your understanding an help.

My ECA (not WES, got it from UToronto), has a lot of detail around my degree.

Canadian Equivalency Summary
Major/Specialization
Assessment Outcome
Program Length
Type of Documents

and so on. I'm not sure how WES lays out their ECA, but you should have more detail that shows the Canadian equivalency, as well as the fact that you obtained the degree.

Since I don't have a WES ECA, I can't be absolutely sure, so if I were you I'd wait for someone else with a WES ECA to weigh in.

The assessment is correct. A bachelors degree is undergrad study. Masters/Phd would be graduate study.

The rating has nothing to do with it. Yes, you can apply. You'll get points for your bachelors.

No! you will not get points for bachelor degree with this ECA. "Three years of undergraduate study" means WES didn't evaluate your qualification as a bachelor degree in Canada.

@qgon123 appears to be correct. I did some research and found this

http://www.wes.org/educators/pdf/indiapolicypacket.pdf

Based on this, it seems that your degree has been found to not be equivalent to a US/Canadian bachelors.

Apologies for my initial response.

Thanks @21Goose for sharing this link, @jogeo it clears everything.

The WES Policy

WES now recognizes Indian 3-year Bachelor’s degrees as equivalent to U.S. Bachelor’s degrees when the following conditions are met:

• The degrees have been earned in Division I and

• The awarding institutions have been accredited by India’s National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a grade of “A” or better (see explanation following)

Please note: this equivalency applies only to institutions accredited by the NAAC. It takes into consideration the relative standing of a university as reflected by the NAAC grade, and the individual degree holder’s performance as indicated by the degree classification of the degree.

WES continues to regard all other three-year degrees from India as equivalent to three years of undergraduate study

Thanks for the explanation. Well in this case which option in the points calculator would I have to choose according to the 3 year undergraduate study?

I don't think you could get any point with this comparability, however, you can't blame WES for this as you didn't do enough research before choosing them.

You should contact other designated evaluation agencies providing them all the details in advance including WES assessment. I hope it will be helpful.
