Hello everyone,

I dug through the forums but I found no post that talks about my title, so I am going to ask it now. If there is one, please link, tyvm.

My profile:

Age: 27
Degree: Bachelors in mechanical eng
GPA: 3.27/4 from a US university
Work exp: currently 3 years work experience in Malaysia, sustaining quality of assembled products.
Have not done GRE/GMAT (not interested)
Have not done IELTS (I can get a waiver since I have a US bachelors. Will eventually take it when I am about to finish Masters & apply for PR)

My goal:
  1. Winter 2022 intake (Jan 2022) - Most deadlines are June 1 (1 month left)
  2. I don't mind any Master's tbh since I am only going for a course based masters. I am leaning towards mech. engineering but its always so competitive ...MBA needs GRE...any recommendation here would be appreciated.
  3. PR of course....haha...I need to finish the 2 years of masters before I turn 30 years old and start losing 5 CRS points every year. My assumed CRS score after finishing masters in a Canadian uni (assuming >7 overall IELTS score & no canadian work exp or offer) is 503 which would puts me in a good standing, however anything can happen in 2 years. The minimum CRS scores for ITA have gone up 30 points since 2018 (was around 440-450~)...will 2023 be like 510??? who knows.

My concerns:
  1. I have been seeing people getting many rejections from all universities. Some threads say that U.Manitoba & U. Saskatchewan don't really accept international students....
  2. I want to go for course based masters, but I hate that I still need to find an advisor for most uni's. So far only Dalhousie.U does not ask for it.

My question I need advice on:
  1. 5 universities that have high acceptance for international students with average 3.0 gpa. Ignore Ivy league canadian Uni's. I already got rejected by U.Alberta but I think it is because I submitted on the last day of Fall 2021 deadline lol. I guess they have enough international students to suck money from.
  2. Is it easy to get a professor as an advisor for course based masters? I was told they will not need to do anything much since its not a thesis.

Appreciate everyone's time.

Thanks for reading.
