Dear Friends,

I have received the COPR (confirmation of permanent residence) from CIC, Buffalo. I would like to bring a change on my personal records. Repeated attempts of sending emails to CIC, Buffalo has been a failure. My emails are bouncing back. Do you know their email ID? I am using buffalo-im-enquiry(at)international.gc.ca [remove (at)]

It is very urgent, please let me know. Thanks

The Buffalo office was closed at the end of May, 2012. That is why your e-mail is bouncing.

If there is a problem requiring correction on your COPR, you should request that it be amended. Directions for doing so may be found here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/amend.asp

Good luck!

Thank you computergeek for your reply. it is helpful. The only change I would like to have on my COPR records is my marital status. i got married recently. My problem is, I do not live in Canada, currently I am in India. Will CIC prepare a fresh COPR letter and send it to the Canadian address on record? Thanks

Someone please help. I have only 2 months left on my landing visa.

Do I need to submit a Request to Amend Record of COPR? How long this process may take?

Oh. So you have a COPR and have not landed and you have undergone a change in marital status. This isn't a mistake on your COPR, this is a significant change in your marital status.

You need to contact the visa office immediately - you MUST NOT land because doing so will make you ineligible to sponsor your spouse in the futue (they will NOT be considered part of the "family class" because you did not declare them on your application.)

You must contact CPP-O immediately to advise them of your change in status. Their contact information is here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/canada/ottawa.asp (it's at the bottom of the page, under "permanent resident visas").

You will need to return your COPR to them. In addition, they will require new documents for your spouse, including evidence of your relationship, forms including your new spouse on the application, police clearance certificate, etc. They will then review your case again, order medicals for your spouse and the RPRF. Once they have all that paperwork, they will review your application again and then issue COPRs (and TRVs if required) for you.

I would send them ALL this paperwork via courier along with a cover letter indicating why you are returning the COPR to them.

Good luck!
