Hi all!

My partner and I have been living for about 1 year and 5 months, and we plan to travel 'separately' for about two months. I have looked for several posts from the forum and am still not sure how long we can stay separately. Some people say that, as long as we prove that we are still in a relationship, like proof of calling, texting, emails, etc., it does not matter when we apply for sponsorship. But, some say it's not acceptable, and two months are too long to be considered as temporary and short. We are really confused about this.
Has anyone received any request from officers to prove the separation was temporary? Do you guys think this would be okay when we apply for PR as a family? or should we avoid this travel time?
From the IRCC website: 'While cohabitation means living together continuously, from time to time, one or the other partner may have left the home for work or business travel, family obligations, and so on. The separation must be temporary and short. '
I can't find the specific duration of how long "temporary and short" are.
Please help us! If you guys have any experience with this kind of situation, please give us some advice!

If the sponsor is Canadian citizen, then they can be together in a foreign country as long as they want until the applicant receives the PR visa and land to Canada.

Btw, you think vacation of 2 months is considered short and temporary?

Can you confirm one of you is Canadian?

Are you both living in Canada at this time? If so, do yo plan on applying for spousal sponsorship inland or outland?

2 months doesn’t sound as “short and temporary” unless it’s for working purpose which you can easily explain
in any case, if you plan to travel that long, do NOT apply for inland

Thank you all!
No, we are applying PR together as a common-law partners like family. I guess we have to skip any vacations.
Thank you so much for all the comments!
You're posting to the wrong section in that case. Post to the Express Entry or PNP section (whichever program you are applying under). This section is for Canadians who are sponsoring family members for PR.
