Duration of sponsorship for non-PR child

Dear friends,

I have checked that the duration of the sponsorship procedure takes 18 months.

The whole family members are PR, except the last child born outside of Canada. We are planning to leave our baby with relatives in the home country and start sponsorship soon upon arrival in Canada. Can somebody share experience/infromation on the actual duration for sponsoring non-PR baby. I understan that legal timeframe mentioned in the immigration pages, but I guess 1,5 year baby will not undergo criminal check and some other steps that are applied for adults.

I appreciate if someone can share experience on above.

So aside from all advice telling you to go back to Canada while you are still able to meet the RO, you did not.

Now you have a different situation. If you get into Canada without getting reported on entry for not meeting the residency requirements, you will bring attention to yourself when you apply to sponsor your child. The sponsorship of your child should not take that long because no background checks are required but your PR status being in question can increase the time again as your application may be put on hold until immigration clears up if you should keep your PR or not.
