Hello Guys, pls I just need someone who may be knowledgeable about the immigration to advise me.
I am currently on a pgwp work permit that will expire on Feb 29, 2016, but its eligible for extension. On Nov 8, 2015 I was arrested and charged for a DUI so I retained a lawyer and was given a curative discharge. I was not convicted of the crime. I am currently on conditional probation for a year. When I applied for my pgwp extension, I was honest in my application and told CIC that I was arrested for DUI on the said date, and that I retained a lawyer and applied for a curative discharged. Now the application as been approved.
I looked on CIC and it says that a conditional or absolute discharge for a crime in Canada is not a conviction and that I am NOT inadmissible. I sent in the application last week and it was delivered on Feb 22 2016 which was the same day that I got my discharge in court. SO I called CIC and they said I should send the court papers to them via mail or using the web form which I will do as soon as I scan it.
I just want to know if CIC will extend my PGWP since I did not get convicted of the crime and also if I travelled to the USA alone would I have problems re-entering Canada?
Can anyone pls advise or answer my question ?
