Hi Everyone,

I recently had my medical for PR and am expecting to hear from them within the next couple of months. However my passport is due to expire in September 2016. Will this cause any problems with getting my PR? I could apply for a new passport but that would give me a new passport number and that would be a big hassle too....

Ideally my expiring passport won't cause a problem with issuing my PR, then once I have my PR I can get a new passport.

Has anyone been through this before? Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

Your passport has to be 6 months or more in order to print a visa, if it is less, they will ask you to renew it.

you still have couple of months to get a passport request for the PR visa. just go and renew your passport..whats the problem in it..when cic will request your passport (after couple of months)you will have the new (renewed) and valid passport in hand to send them and to get your PR visa stamped without any issues. i dont think there is any problem or hassle in getting a new passport number. yeah to be on safe side you can send a copy of your new passport to cic.
