Hi guys!

We have a concern with PCC, hope some members can shed light on our concern:

Applied under CEC in May 2013 and we are just done with our medicals on March 1 and 10 (family of 3). Paid as well the RPRF. Pending is the Police Certificate from the UAE (also called as Certificate of Good Conduct). CIC requested this PCC along with our medicals last January 29. It took us 2 weeks to get the authenticated and legalized fingerprint form from the UAE Embassy in Ottawa and our application for PCC and the required documents are already in Dubai, UAE, being processed by a relative. However, we received a call from our relative that the Dubai Police HQ WON'T issue any PCC to VISIT VISA holder as they only process PCCs for those with residence or work visa. When our relative asked them of any document or circular or a letter from the police authority about this so that we can send it to CIC, the Dubai Police said they won't issue any document to that effect. By the way, my spouse went to Dubai for a visit (5 1/2 months) about 9 years ago -- wasn't even 6 months. PCCs should be required for stay in any other country for more than 6 months, but since CIC requested for it along with Japan's (almost a year of stay though), we just wanna comply. Also maybe because the stay was close to 6 months, thus CIC asked for it.

Does this happen to anyone before? Anyone who has an idea of the best thing to do? We've been trying to find any correspondence or circular online about this so we can attach it to an explanation letter to CIC just in case we won't really be able to get any document from Dubai Police, but no luck so far.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

As far as I know you will have to go to AbuDhabi yourself and get the PCC from Ministry of Interior.

Hi ,

I have stayed in UAE for close to 6 years . I acomplied with all the requirement per embassy in ottawa and sent toa friend for pcc from sharjah. Shj police department is asking for getting it done from Foreign Ministry in UAE.
I am utterly confused when i called the embassy in Ottawa again and they also say Shj Police should issue and they don't have any idea about this.
I am in a fix now.
Can anyone help?

LOL, you should read the dates on the posts. The OP (ynoweh) has already landed : )

cec14 on the other hand was there for 6 years, let's assume they had the resident visa.

cec14 - Yes, this has happened to a lot of people. First, make sure you are documenting all your efforts to get the PCC. There's no paper trail with phone calls, so try and get responses in writing (by email or fax) if possible. Keep a log of your phone calls (dates, times, numbers, person you spoke with). This is in case you ultimately can't get it and have to submit a written explanation.

Any chance of your friend going to the Foreign Ministry anyway? (Even though he shouldn't have to).
