Hello,
So my name is Gordon North Piegan III. This is a long story so my grandfather was born in Canada and was a full canadian Indian from the blood reserve. Our actual last name is the name of a clan that was seperated by the border from our original tribe. We were split into two south pikuni and north pikuni. My father however never decided to get his citzenship and so now I fear I will loose access to our original homeland and stakes of land I should have inherited upon my grandfathers death. I am Blackfeet and our trible ids actually allow us access to canada as a passport since our tribal lands extend into canada. I am a quarter blood and on my birth certificate it says a quarter canadian indian. I would like to claim my heritage and become apary of the tribe which would allow me to return to my homeland. Most of my family lives in Canada and the border is literally a 20 minute drive. I am always asked if I am canadian. And I feel I am.serve to live on the land that my ancestors called home for centuries and return home.

Hi Gordon, I think no one here will know about your specific case. Best course of action would be to hire a immigration lawyer or do a lot of research online. Sorry I can't help much. But I believe it is possible.

I know it's different coming from the US to Canada but for us on the Canadian side, we have to go to our First Nation and get a letter of blood quantum in order to live and work in the States. Do you have a tribal card? (status card in Canada) In order for Canadian First Nations people to enter the US to live, work, without a greencard, we need at least 50% Aboriginal blood quantum to enter . It looks like coming from US to Canada, you would need a letter from AANDC verifying ancestry as the blood quantum isn't a practice Canada uses. You could try and apply for Indian Status through AANDC if your relatives are status here in Canada.
