I have a question that was brought up to me the other day about if my son will have dual citizenship for united states and Canada. The reason for it is my father in law is a candain citizen and my mother in law is a american citizen and my husband has his dual citizenship, I am just a american citizen. So we didn't know if our son would only have a american citizenship or because his father has dual, he would get dual. So I figured I would ask on here cause I don't know who to ask.

everything depends on how your husband got his Canadian citizenship. was he born in Canada or he got his citizenship through his parents?

Use this online assessment tool from CIC for your son:

It would appear that your spouse got his Canadian citizenship through descent. So if your child was born after April/17/2009 he would not be eligible for Citizenship, as your spouse received his citizenship via descent. I am assuming your spouse has applied for proof of citizenship.
