Hi All,

We finally got our COPR and temp visas last month.

I'm planning on driving to Toronto from US (Phily) in a rental car. Won't be coming back to US.
I have gone through numerous posts here (including Qorax, awesome!) and still can't find a comprehensive guide to follow.

For example, I now know to create two lists of belongings including B4 form. Our passports with temp visa and COPR will be ready too.

However I still have some questions and was wondering if anyone can help:

1) Do I have to pay any duty on items we will be carrying? Example: Laptop, mobiles, tv etc.

2) I will return my rental car in Canada itself. Will ensure I'm covered, insurance wise. Will I have any issue?

3) Apart from COPR, passport with temp visa and our documents (birth cert, marksheets etc.), do I need to carry any form or specific document?

4) GPS navigation takes Peace bridge by default. I read here that I need to use Lewiston-Queenston instead. Does anyone has any idea if other 3 bridges on near Niagra crossing are allowed for PR holders to enter for the first time?

Hoping for some answers guys. Please help.

Regards, SWA

On newly bought stuff maybe....for things that you use for your normal day to day life...NO

As long as the rental company allows you to drop off and you have the required documentation for it, it should be fine.

3) Apart from COPR, passport with temp visa and our documents (birth cert, marksheets etc.), do I need to carry any form or specific document?

Depends on what category did you get your PR under...for FSW without Arranged employment you will need Proof of funds as well....

You can do the landing at any bridge as long as services for Immigration are offered. Peace Bridge does it 24*7.

Thanks dbss, much appreciated!

Thanks for pointing our the POF. Yes I applied under FSW without arranged employment.
I am planning on carrying traveler's checks as well as some cash.

Still can't seem to find information on which bridges offer immigration service. As you said Peace Bridge offers this, I guess I'm good to go.

All items we will be carrying would be old. But as is the case with gadgets, they appear new. Even 1 year old ones. I have an obsessive habit of cleaning my stuff routinely. Guess I will carry receipts too.
