Hi All,

I plan to land in Canada this month, having received my papers.

I heard that I need to source a letter of experience from the RTO (India) that issued my driving license two years ago to directly for G1 driving test. Is this true? My driving license already has an embedded chip in it..

Appreciate all the help...

Do you have the International Driver's Licence? Since India does not have an exchange agreement I think you will end up in the graduated system.
If you have a letter that shows you've been driving for 2 years you can get your G2 which has very few restrictions.

I just have regular driving license. Will I be able to give G1 driving test with just the license itself (without the letter)??

IF you are in India - you can get international driving license permit and Driving license history for 1500/- INR in 4 days.

best way is to go to main RTO office in your city, contact any RTO agent, in 1500/- Rs. he will get you, I got this way in Ahmedabad.

bring this even if you don't plan to purchase/drive car in Canada

One question regarding proof of driving license for 2 years...

I have a proof of driving for 2 years...but between 2011-2014....will that still hold now for 2015? If I do not have a valid driving license now, but I have driven more than 2 years in the past, will it work?

The document generally needs to be issued within the last 6 months.

My last name is not on my indian DL and abstract but last name is on passport , adhar card (all documents are photo ids). drivetest official told me that they can't add my driving experience as name is not matching. is there a way to get experience added in Ontario without applying for new license and attract from India?
