Hey Everyone,

So after reading several forums and even speaking to a solicitor I have had so much conflicting information and not even google is helping.

I am due to travel to canada for training with my new employer who have their HQ there. After having searched endlessly for information and speaking to a specialist canadian immigration lawyer I was informed that since its my first and only offence I should be issued a Temporary residence permit only for the duration of my visit and provided i have the right documentation confirming my reasons for the visit I shouldnt have an issue. BIG LOAD OF CARP....

I went there this morning, applied and was then called up and asked to provide a police certificate which I didnt have as no where on the forms was I told I would need one. The problem is that I am due to travel in 2 weeks and the certificate wont get to me for a week (thats the 48hr express service BTW).

Does anyone know what the process is after I have gotten the certificate and gone back to the embassy? Will i get granted my visa? as my ticket is non-refundable and paid for by the employer i am at risk of losing my position as I will be required to travel to canada 2 - 3 times a year. I have all the correct paperwork from payslips, to letters from my employer to bank statements, insurance etc...

Also will I be able to get the visa on the same day as i go back with my certificate?

PS I am currently serving an 18month ban for the drink driving and and was given a fine which i paid in 7 days from the judgement.

thanks in advance for your help.

1. You get the certificate and CIC may issue a TRP to you, there is no guarantee, and it will be a one time entry.
2. You will not be able to apply for rehabilitation, which you need for further entries to Canada until 5 years after the completion of your 18 month ban.
3. For further entries prior to when you can apply for rehabilitation, you will have to apply for a TRP for every entry.
4. It is unlikely that an overseas office will issue the TRP on the day you deliver the PCC.
