Doubts on accompanying sister's Visa requirements. Need advice

Hi All,

I got my PR Visa. Have to land by Feb 28. So I am planning to land in Toronto on 20th Feb from India.
I have asked my sister come along and help me settle. She will stay for 10 days or so.

1. Both of our passports expire in Jul 2017.I am guessing for me that's not a prob as of now. But for my sister, should we start passport renewal process since she is coming on Visitor Visa? (I think it is visitor visa please correct me if wrong)
This is my first international trip.
Anything about Visa is new to me.

2. Is travel or health insurance required for each of us?
Someone suggested travel insureance for my sis and health insureance once I land in Toronto for me (as you are covered after 3 months of landing in Ontario public health insurance )

Please let me know your thoughts. Anything you think would be helpful for me know is welcome as I this is completely new for me.

It's called a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).

But for my sister, should we start passport renewal process since she is coming on Visitor Visa?

Yes, your sister's passport must be valid for a minimum of 6 months when she applies for a TRV

Although it's not mandatory for a TRV, it's always a good idea to buy overseas travel medical insurance when one travels abroad.

Your sister could include a copy of this insurance policy when she applies.

and health insureance once I land in Toronto for me

Yes.... until you are eligible for OHIP coverage


Your sister must prove that she has strong reasons to return to India: Employment/business + property or land ownership/lease agreement + family ties + good financial situation (to prove she can pay for her visit and airfare) + previous travel history will help

My passport also expires in jul 2017.
Since i got my pr visa stamping on it and landing in feb 2017. It wont be a prob right? Stamp says i need to land before 28feb 2017.
