Quick background information:

I am Canadian, my partner is from Guatemala. He already has a Multiple Entry TRV valid until 2018. We've decided on starting the process for OUTLAND Family Class Sponsorship, because of the shorter processing time. I will be his sponsor.

Everything seems pretty straight forward, we've started gathering up information. But I am a bit worried about me being rejected as a sponsor. I have been bouncing back and forth between Guatemala and Canada, on average spending about 5 months in each country before changing back. I am worried about these questions on the sponsorship application:

...have you lived exclusively outside Canada? Answer is no..
... do you live in Canada and in NO OTHER COUNTRY?? Answer is also no... But it says if I answer no to this question I might not be eligible to sponsor. What should I do? My main residence has always been Canada, but I've spent enough time in Guatemala that CIC might take it that I don't live exclusively in Canada..

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated! Thanks! :)

If you are a Canadian citizen, you will almost certainly have no problem with sponsorship. A PR on the other hand, must reside in Canada for the whole of the application processing if they are sponsoring.

Thank you!

So what should I answer to the question ...have you lived in Canada and in no other country?

If you live in Guatemala for more than 6 months a year then answer yes. This will probably help your application though, as it shows you two spend a lot of time together.

The question is probably to help vett out PRs who don't live in Canada exclusively, and sponsors who need to prove they plan to settle in Canada. You can live full time in another country as a Canadian citizen and still sponsor, but then you need to prove you intend to return to Canada.

What ever you believe to be true. They are checking a) that if you are a PR, that you live in Canada and b) that if you are a citizen living outside Canada, that you intend to live in Canada once the applicant is granted PR status.

Many people, myself included, were living outside of Canada for several years when we sponsored our partners. It's not an issue, so answer honestly.

Thank you so much!!
To show my intent to live in Canada once the PR has been approved, I'm not sure what to provide. Obviously I am writing a letter explaining all our plans, situation etc.. But I don't have anything concrete as in job offer or rental agreement since we don't know how long this process is gonna take..

I can also ask my parents to write some sort of support letter stating we plan on starting a life in Canada etc..? Would that be enough?

That's pretty much exactly what we did. No problem for us.

I have another unrelated question... My partner already has a Multiple Entry TRV, will that affect in any way our application for PR? Maybe be processed faster as he's already gone through the initial "screening" process? Thanks!!
