Dear All,

I am an Indian citizen and recently received my study permit to Canada. Since my relative stays in New York, I am also planning to apply for a US tourist Visa and stay with him in the US for a few days and then drive down to Toronto. I have the following questions:

  • Will there be any problems if I enter Canada from the US with my study permit ( I have read a few cases where the border agents have denied entry for people - I have not seen a case like that at the airport)
  • If my US visa is denied (in which case I will have to fly to Canada), will the US visa refusal impact my entry to Canada at the airport
  • If I want to later apply for a PR after my studies, will a US visa refusal effect my chances
Thank you so much for your help in advance !

- I don’t think it will be any issue.
- you maybe asked and you can let them know. It should not have any impact
- at the PR processing time you will have to declare the rejections, it won’t have an impact but officer may want to know the reason for rejection
