Hi,

Received ITA working on filling up application and collecting docs. In application it asks for last 10 years of residential history. I went to onsite assignments in 2009 and 2010 to Finland (3 months) and China (4.5 months) respectively , in China i Stayed in hotel and don't remember which hotel and have no way to dig up the data. In Finland I stayed as a paying guest with 2 families and I don't remember the exact addresses and have no way to dig up the data. Can I put approx address from memory and research and explain in LOE? thanks.

Also, just to double confirm - for my china stay of 4.5 months (since it is less than 6 months) I dont need PCC right? thanks a lot.

Yes, do the best you can for the addresses. You'll find that the address fields are quite restrictive (you can't use numbers and letters together in one of the fields, so if you were in apartment 2A...), so many addresses are forced to be approximate in any case. For the hotel - you can't remember anything about it? For example, if you know you stayed near the airport, use Google Maps to try and narrow it down? It may be a bit weird if you said you stayed in a hotel for nearly 5 months and you don't remember anything about it.

You don't need an LOE from any country where you stayed less than 6 months. However, the 6 months are cumulative for ALL trips- if you ever went back to China, you'd need to add those days to the 4.5 months.

spent 4 hours last night on maps and google trying to figure out the hotel. I dont know if you have ever been to china , all in chinese and that makes a difference on not being able to remmebr name etc. anyway though i have zeoed in on a hotel I cant say for 100%, in fact i cant say for even 50% surety that this is the hotel. Yes, will do approximation.

Yeah, as long as you are reasonably certain that you stayed in the neighborhood, you can pick any hotel that fits the bill. For example, I know I stayed in an hotel near the airport in NYC 6 years ago - I can't remember the hotel (there are dozens), so I would just pick one near the airport.

You'll be fine. Just don't say you stayed somewhere for half a year but you have no idea where :)
