Does the PNP fall under Express Entry? Or are they separate categories?

I'm studying here as an International Student and I want to stay in Canada after that. Express Entry seems very competitive but there could be chances for me under der Provincial Nominee Program.

Do I have to apply for Express Entry, if I apply for the Provincial Nominee Program? Or are both separate categories?

There are SEPARATE PNP Stream: the regular PNP stream vs the express-entry PNP stream.

Both programs are still available (although I believe the quota is combined for both, not sure about this).

You can apply for the regular PNP programs as usual
You can apply for the express entry PNP programs AFTER you create EE profile and you get notice from the province.

Each province have different PNP programs & requirements, so you will be better off specifying where you intent to apply.
