Does the medical exam expire?

Hello guys, first time poster here, hope I’m in the right section.

Ok so a bit of context: I’ve applied to the EE skilled worker program; I’ve sent all the necessary documents on April 1st 2017. I’ve been asked to submit the IMM 5475 form on June 1st and my medical exam was approved in July 2017.

However, I’ve noticed an update a few days ago, and where it was stated that my medical exam was approved, it now states that I don’t need to take a medical exam and that I’ll be notified if that ever changes, basically what it stated before my medical exam was approved.

How’s that possible? Does the medial exam expire (I’ve taken mine on February 15th, 2017)? Do I have to take another one?

Also, it’s been eleven months since I’ve submitted my file, is there a way to know why does it takes so long? Can I do something about it?

Medicals are valid for a year. There's nothing for you to do at this point, the processing officer will let you know if you have to take a new medical.

Also, it's been eleven months, is it common to wait this long?

No, this has no effect on the final decision.

Most applications get processed within 6 months but it is not rare to see some to take considerable longer. If I were you I would order GCMS notes to see where your application stands.

Didn't know about those. Saw a thread in here where it says that I would have to be in Canada to request the notes. In here, it says that "To send a request you must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or an individual or corporation currently in Canada."

Is there some kind of a loophole that would allow me to request these notes from Algeria?
