Does status "open" means in progress?

Hello again,

Does somebody know if the visitor visa online status "open" means in progress? Can somebody tell me if this changes when they are dealing with your application. All the other steps are in "not needed at this time"

as per cic help page:

"If the status is open, it means that we have received your application or profile. When we begin to process your file, you will be notified of a change in your application or profile status through your account. "

hi, yes I have seen this, but it is too vague. I was wondering what other applicants have come across. the thing is my husband applied for visitor visa on 25th of May and the processing time says 7 working days for UK. account was updated on 9th of June, so since then we are waiting for a reply... we don't know if they are even reviewing the documents or not.

Hello there. I've applied for a visitor visa extension twice, and both times at the start it said Open. So yes, it means it's still in progress and they're working on it.

It is common to have no updates between being 'Open' and arriving to a final decision.
