Does sponsor have to be IN Canada

My fiancee plans to come to America for 6 months to marry me, send in Outland sponsorship and to
live here for a bit. This will give him the opportunity to meet my folks
and friends as well as to see where i'm from.

My concerns are:

1. He is in the trades but will not be working for those 6 months.

2. Does he need to be physically in Canada through the sponsorship prosses?

He can visit you in the states but needs to maintain his Canadian residence and ties to Canada.

he does not. There is a form for Canadians living abroad that he'll need to fill out and send in with the application but that's about it.

Is he a citizen of Canada or a permanent resident?

to clarify my post, in Quebec there is an extra form to fill out for declaration of sponsor abroad. In the rest of Canada there is just a bit of info in form 5540E that needs to be filled out. (question 11)

If he is a PR he needs to reside in Canada. If he is a citizen, he can live outside of Canada and be eligible to sponsor BUT must show proof of plans to resettle in Canada once the PR visa is issued.

He is a natural born Canadian Citizen.
All his family and his trade are in Brittish Coloumbia, Canada.
He would just be taking a 6 month trip to stay with me for a bit.

No if it is an outland app then he can come see you no problem.Just tell him to keep an eye on Ecas and post.But if you used your address and email for the PR app Bostongirl all of the info will now come to you.So tell him pack his bags and have a great time together.If the visa office wants anything they will contact you.
