Does separation affect a Spousal PR?

A friend asked me if his overseas wife can still land with the PR Visa she received 3 months ago, though they've been legally separated for 9 months?
Anyone have any idea if she can legally still land as a PR ?

If she was sponsored by him, she cannot. They both have a legal obligation to notify IRCC of their change in marital status and withdraw the application.

He should have cancelled the sponsorship 9 months ago and she shouldn't have gotten ppr. Both are committing misrepresentation. He can get into a lot of trouble not only her. He should be contacting CIC immediately before she lands. Much harder to rectify the situation after she lands.
