Hi everyone!

I have come to Canada under the LCP since Feb-2014. My current work permit valid until Feb-2016. I quit my job on Sep-2014 because there is many thing has changed in my working condition and I don't feel happy working for this employer anymore. I already applied for E.I but hey have rejected me because the reason I quit my job is a personal reason (??? I really don't expect that). I have appealed and waiting for the decision.

I found a new employer 1 week ago and she will file a new LMIA to sponsor me as a Live-in Caregiver in the end of December 2014 as she still on the contract with her current nanny.

I called CIC to know if I could stay in Canada legally while I'm unemployed and looking for a new employer until my current work permit expired in Feb-2014? They said YES. Then I have read about "Restoration of status" and I get very confused. I have some questions please help me out:
1. I have been officially unemployed since Sep 15, 2014, so far it's over 2 months. Do I need to apply for "Restoration of status" within 90 days (as it said on the section) since I quit my job? As I understand I'm not changing employer or type of work right now but I'm unemployed and waiting for the new employer to do LMIA. Please help me to clear this point.
2. My current work permit valid until Feb-2016, can I stay in Canada legally even I'm not working til Feb-2014? Will CIC contact me and ask me to leave Canada?

Hope to have good advice from you all. Thank a lot.

Anna

1. No - you don't need to apply for restoration of status since your work permit is still valid.
2. Yes - you can stay in Canada legally.
3. It does make sense that your I.E. was refused since you quit your job.

Hi Scylla, thanks for your advises. So now I just need to wait for my future employer do new LMIA and then I can apply for a new work permit without being worried anymore? Thanks!!!
