Does on the job training count as work experience?

Hi,

I’m a locomotive engineer which is skill level B and I’ve been doing the job for 3 years. But for the first year, I was training. For the purposes of the express entry and the point system, would it count as 2 years or 3 years professional experience? It was on the job training and I was full-time employed by the company.

Thanks for the help and apologies if this is a silly question

as long as you were working and getting paid full time it can be counted.
Thanks for the reply. So just to clarify, as far as the points are concerned, would they count it as 3 years or 2 years?

On the application, there is a section on primary occupation which i put the date that I was a qualified locomotive engineer. So under work history, is it ok to just put when I started the job as a Trainee Locomotive Engineer and have this as current job? Or should I separate it by having 2 fields- when I was a trainee locomotive engineer and another field for Qualified Locomotive Engineer? The problem with the latter is how am I supposed to put a NOC code for when I was training.
I want to make sure that I can include the time that I was training because I don’t want them to say that I was lying about work experience to get more points.

Thanks again
