Hi all,

It's been almost 10 months that my wife's application for Permenant Resident is 'In Process' status. Soon, it'll reach 12 months since she passed mer medical exam and I believe the results of medical exam will expire after the period of a year. Now, we have had our baby like a month ago. Say, my wife should under-go the medical exam again,

- will my new-born baby needs to do a medical exam as well?
- Is my new-born baby considered a Canadian? or an American?

Thanks for your inputs/suggestions.

Toledo.

PS: My wife is a U.S. permenant residant and I am a Canadian citizen. And we are living in the U.S. at the moment.

You can get canadian citizenship for your baby. As you are a citizen so is your child. You don't need to sponsor her.

Boncuk,

Thanks for the reply.

Actually, I was asumming that my child is also a Canadian, I wasn't sure though. Can you tell me (or guide me to some links) on how to proceed to get citizenship for my child, please?

Your input is much appreciated.

Toledo.

Contact the Canadian embassy to file for a proof of citizenship for your child. Once you have done that, you should be able to get a temporary passport as well for the child. You will not get the citizenship certificate until 10-12 months from now though, it takes a while.
