does it mean when they ask for a passport everything is ok?

Here is my story. I sponsored my wife from the philippines. I submitted my application sept 17 2009 .CIC-M send my application to manila in Nov 20, 2009. And now my wife received a letter from manila visa office for her passport and other documents such as NSO certificate of marriage.Does this mean that everything is ok now.That visa is coming next? or they will ask for more proof of documents? I hate it when they do it one at a time. Why don't they ask for it in one shot.PLease let me know if my situation is running smoothly. I'm going crazy lately.I heard some great stories and horrible stories regarding about passport waiting for visa's. Some only took 2 months and some people got more letters asking for proof of marriage, pictures, on-going relationships, etc. My wife is sending her passport and NSO marriage certificate next week jan 5 2010. I'm hoping for the best!

It doesn't necessarily mean they will give the person a visa. The visa office asked for my husband's passport, but his application was rejected.

It depends on the visa office, different offices operate differently.

Manila tends to ask for the passport really early on. You have to wait quite a while before you get it back. With them, there's no guarantee that you will get the visa.

Most other offices ask for the passport when they've already decided to issue a visa. There is still a chance that you could be rejected (if for example something comes up in the background check, which is done at the very end of the process), but in most cases, the passport requests means there's an approval coming.

but there can be good news too, and they return your passport with visa. have you tried to order CAIPS?

no i haven't done that yet and I don't know how to do it. Can anyone help me how to order CAIPS?

Your response scares me. I received a letter of passport request from CHC-Singapore on Dec 3, 2009. I sent my passport right after getting the letter. And 'till now, I haven't heard any news from them yet. I emailed them yesterday and there is no response. It was almost one month since I sent my passport. The letter stated that they were ready to issue me a visa. Is it still a chance that they would reject my application?

Yes, there is still a possibility that you can get rejected - until the visa is actually in the passport, there's always a chance of that. However, it happens extremely rarely. Like, practically never. Especially after they said they're ready to issue the visa. So take a deep breath and calm down. I'm sure your visa will be on its way to you soon

it depends where you want to apply for CAIPS from - in Canada or out in another country.

Hi, I am wondering why they asked for your NSO marriage certificate.. Didn't you send the NSO marriage certificate at the initial submission of application? I am about to file my own petition for my spouse but I am still waiting for the NSO marriage certificate. Would the original marriage certificate from the City Hall be enough?

Please advise... I really want to lodge my application soon and waiting for the NSO marriage certificate will take quite some time..
