Does information given on PR file later on affect citizenship?

I am applying for PR now under CEC, I do not want to claim points for my wife, to make process simpler and hence I am showing that she has no education / work experience background ( Obviously she has ).

I am concerned if this could affect our citizenship later when we try to apply for it? Do they require us to provide such details (work/education?) for citizenship, my wife wants to work once she gets her PR.

I have heard few instances where they check your entire history and check if they match with what you have claimed it to be.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

They will only ask for work information for the (currently) five years before your citizenship application date. This is to establish the timeline of your physical presence in Canada. They do not have any specific interest in your pre-PR employment or experience.

While that's true, I still don't think it's a good idea to represent something that's not correct, in ANY immigration application... Saying ones' wife has no education or work experience while she actually does is not truthful, even if that doesn't gain points for the application...

Thank you for the quick response,
I guess i can apply for citizenship after 2 years in PR since i did my masters degree and spent another year working in canada (that is what most folks follow here in my province)

Even if they dont care about pre-PR employment, do they check education?

I completely understand and trust me I dont want to mis-represent anything, but the process of getting ECA / specific NOC code employment letter from previous employers is a pain to go through in India ( Time consuming too ) Since i dont have the luxury of waiting indefinitely (due to circumstances in india), im simply not claiming.

It rather depends on the exact question being asked. A lot of applicants minimise the claimed points if they don't need them, in order to not have to supply unnecessary documentation. Not claiming points that you may be entitled to, is very different from claiming points that you are not entitled to.

No, unless physical presence in Canada as a student is part of the (currently) five years eligible period.
