Does getting a file number mean there's hope for the nominee application?

Hi, just wanna know from someone who has experienced nominee application.
I submitted my SINP app January 2012, received the letter/certification confirmation that they already received my application and I was even given the file number last February 18, but I haven't heard anything about my application since then.
My friends say that there's hope of being nominated since I was already given a file number.

Now, these are my questions:
How big is the chance that my application will be approved?
Is there a chance of being denied too after waiting for about ten months now?
Will medical exam be next if I hear updates in the future?
Will I need to pay for anything aside from the medical and how much will that be?

Thank you so much in advance, your response is appreciated! :)

If you meet all the requirements than you will be nominated. Getting a file number doesn't mean you will get nominated for sure, even after ten months.

I got a request for more documents after ten months (I forgot my name and DOB on one of the forms and one form had changed a month after I received my file number) so that could happen or if they got all they need from you the next step will be that you get your letter of nomination. After that you have to apply for PR and then comes the medical. There are no fees anywhere during the SINP process.
When you apply for PR you pay 550 per person (not sure how much for children) and depending on your country and the doctors office you will have to pay for the medical. Before receiving your PR you have to pay another 490 per adult to CIC. If you want to get a TWP after nomination you will have to pay another 150.

Thanks for your detailed reply! I just want to clarify if receiving the letter of nomination, husband and I can start working right away after paying & getting TWP? I still want to hope that everything will be okay after the long waiting....

Thanks again! :)

You should get a letter with your nomination for a work permit (no guarantee that you will get TWP approved; that's what SINP writes in that letter) and then you can go to the immigration office when you get to Canada and they should issue you the permit. I am not sure if you boths will get a permit or just the main applicant.
I was already in Canada on a IEC visa and when I got my nomination my coworker took me to the US for a shopping trip and on the way back I got my work permit.

Aww, great! Husband and I are here already in Regina for a year now but on a tourist visa (It's our 3rd time of extending it). I know SINP will take long that's why I am looking for an employer now who will make a request for LMO so that I can go out the border and have TWP too if LMO comes out positive....hopefully....I want to earn while waiting for SINP, hope this idea will work for me.
By the way, what is IEC?
Thanks again & God bless!

Go to your local MLA and ask for help. Worked for me. IEC stands for International Experience Canada. I am from Germany (I know that the UK has the same program as well as other countries) and was able to use that program twice. Once as working holiday which got me my job in Regina and a second time as young professional (binding me to the job I have; had they fired me I would have had to go home). The last visa ran out Sept 30, 2012 and it got very close with the Nomination. My Boyfriends dad had the idea to go to the MLA and ask for help so I went with my Employer. A day after the meeting I got a call from SINP promising that they would do everything in their power to get it done by the end of September. Two business days later came the request to add my name and DOB to one of the forms where I forgot it (that was after ten months of receiving my file number). A week and a half before the visa ran out I contacted the MLA again because SINP still didn't contact my Employer and I got worried. They called SINP and SINP called my Employer short after. The same day I finally got my nomination. It really is worth a try. He said that I wasn't the first one they tried to help and that they know who to call.
Where are you from and how old are you? Maybe your country offers the same program (usually for people 18-35) and you could try getting into it if SINP still takes some time. Working holiday gives you an open TWP and Young Professionals is for a specific Employer.

Thanks! I'm from the Philippines and I'm 34 yrs. old. What is MLA? I researched thru the internet but lots of meaning came out & don't know which one is specifically it (sorry keep on asking questions, I'm still learning the abbreviated terms for this discussion forum). Do I need to be accompanied by my prospect employer when I go to the local MLA? She was the one who signed the forms needed for my SINP application as a Skilled worker but she's quite busy now. She wants me to work in her Child Care center as an ECE but I can't start until I have the necessary papers to work legally there. As of now, I'm just volunteering in that childcare center (since last year) for free but I don't see the employer/director there often.
I really appreciate your time responding to my inquiries.
Thanks again! :)

MLA stands for Members of the Legislative Assembly, on the following link you can check which one is responsible for your ara. http://www.legassembly.sk.ca/mlas/
Regina South I know is Bill Hutchinson (he is the one I contacted).
It is not necessary for your prospect employer to accompany you but I think it made a good impression in my case because my Employer was able to explain why he needed me specifical. Sounds better when an Employer talks about it than when you talk about it. I am sure which ever MLA is responsible for you area will help you no matter if you go with or without your Employer. Maybe you have a supervisor or coworker who could talk in your behalf? That was the original idea in my case but because of unexpected circumsstance the big boss accompanied me.

Good luck.

You're very welcome; glad to be of help.

Thanks again! I'll try to talk to my employer-to-be so that even if she can't accompany me, she could at least email or talk to the local MLA through phone regarding my situation.
I'm really worried now because she tried applying for me for both LMO and SINP (she thinks, whichever comes first will be okay and I can start working legally). She just informed me yesterday that our LMO request was refused so I really can't start working in her Childcare Center for I won't be allowed to get a work permit since LMO was not positive.

I forgot to ask if you need to pay for the MLA? Will you need to go to the legislative building too?
Thanks for your help...I really appreciate!

No you don't have to pay for that. They are politicians and responsible for helping you. They have their own offices within the city. Bills for example is south on albert street. If they would want you to meet at the legislature building they would tell you so but I hardly doubt that.

Thanks JCS! I emailed Mr. Mark Docherty and found out that I should be contacting Mr. Warren Mac Call instead.
Mr. Mark though told me that he can still help me. I will have a meeting with his assistant tomorrow.
Will it be okay or I still need to contact Mr. Warren Mac Call? I won't mind contacting them, just as long as I can get help. :)
Thanks again!

If they are willing to help you than there is no need to contact the other guy. They all would do just the same - making a few phone calls.
Hope they can make it as quick for you as it was for me after contacting the MLA.
