I (primary applicant) had applied FSW with my wife. I have WES ECA and my wife does not have WES ECA.

I am holding Master of Commerce degree.

My wife is in IT, she is holding MCA degree.

Recently we got medical test request, we have sent the medical completion test report, please clarify the below questions for applying jobs in Canada:

1. Can I use WES ECA while applying job, do I need to provide other credential, if so please let me know?
2. My wife does not have WES ECA, does she require ECA and/or any other credential to apply job.

Thanks in advance

You do not require the assessment when applying for a job. However, the assessment gives you the Canadian equivalent of your international qualification, which you are advised to indicate on your resume i.e. Your international qualification and a note of its equivalent in Canada.

This enables the recruiter to make a decision on your educational qualifications for the job. Remember the recruiter is not familiar with your home-country system of education.

Thanks for the quick response.

As suggested I would like to get assessment done for my wife and myself.

When I try for WES registration, I got the below options. Could you please tell me which assessment is required:

1. ECA online application for CIC purposes
2. Standard online application (all other purposes)
3. OCAS applicants

WES offers two types of evaluations: Document-by-Document evaluation and Course-by-Course evaluation. I have ECA Document-by-Document evaluation. Please let me know which evaluation the employers are looking for Document-by-Document or Course-by-Course?

Thank You in Advance

I believe OPTION 2 is what you should be using as it covers all other purpose which is where employment falls. The other two options are specific i.e. Option 1 for immigration/cic purposes and option 3 for Ontario colleges' use.

On which evaluation employers are looking for, the document-by-document will suffice. See the link below for your comfort.

All the best.

What is 'professional license/certificate'?
Do we need a professional license/certificate for Banking and IT profession?

Thanks You in advance.

Professional license is a credential issued to confirm you are qualified to work in a particular profession in the country (or region/province/state) where it is issued
This is critical if your line of work is in a regulated profession e.g. Accounting, nursing, engineering, physicians etc. Like in any other country.

For banking you may not necessarily need a license but some roles within the industry may demand that you have one e.g. If you are in the finance and accounting division, for one to qualify for most positions it will be a requirement that they are a CPA or CFA. Generally, one would say it is not a requirement but to qualify for certain positions it becomes one. It all depends on which section of banking one is seeking employment. For sections like customer service or administration, you obviously will not need a license. That said, it is highly advisable to obtain a CSC credential or designation to find employment, it is highly regarded in Canada's banking industry. See the link below; under the designations and credentials page
https://www.csi.ca/student/en_ca/home.xhtml It all depends on which area of banking your in.

The same can be said for IT, it is not a regulated profession. However, like in any other part of the world, some employers will prefer candidates with certain certifications for certain positions. The good news is, for IT these certifications are the same across the globe so if one has it, it'll be recognized anywhere. Of course it's different for the likes of accountants, nurses etc. they have to re-certify in every country they go to.
Hope this clarifies.

Thanks a lot for the valuable info.

Currently I have WES ECA Document-by-Document this is valid for 5 years, while applying credential I have already sent the educational transcript, getting a new set of transcript is difficult it takes minimum 15 days, for upgrading to WES ICAP Course-by-Course (for permanent storage and course-by-course evaluation) do I need to submit the same transcript again?

Thanks in advance.

I think you should contact WES for guidance on that. I would hate to give you a thought yet you can get the right information. Drop them an email or call them.

Hi!

Im new here, and planning to immigrate, my husband is the applicant he has 2 completed degrees 1.) BS Physical Therapy - a Licensed Physical Therapist already and; 2.) Doctor of Medicine - already a Doctor. WES is our choice in getting an ECA but i have read that for Medical like Physicians need to get ECA from other organization like in Medical Council or Physiciansapply.com. If so, we will be getting ECA's from 2 different organizations? one from WES and the other one from Medical Council?

Pls. a little help on this.

Thank you very much.

For all the medical degrees you will need to register at physiciansapply.ca and they will tell you step by step what to do. This is the Medical Council of Canada portal which is the competent body for the evaluation of the medical degrees.

Regards and good luck
