Does CIC count current Canadian work experience wrong?

Hi ppl, I started my current job in Canada in the middle of November, 2014. 2 days ago on October 1st, 2016 I received an email from CIC saying my profile was updated so I was surprised when I saw that my score increased from 457 to 482 due to more work experience in Canada! (increased from 1 year to 2 years)

My profile now says I have 482 points which makes no sense because it shows 2 years of experience in Canada already but I don't have 2 years of experience yet! I will, but next month (in November). I work 37.5 hours a week and that's what I filled in in my profile. Something is wrong witch their system, how it calculates... :mad:

What should I do if I receive an ITA this Wednesday? My score should be less than it says now, so I'm worried but I don't lie and I just think it's a bug in their system... Thanks! :eek:

The EE system counts work experience in whole months.
If you started a job on November 30th, it would count the entire month of November.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you don't submit an application with the wrong CRS.
So if you receive ITA in the next draw, and the cutoff is above 457, you must decline the ITA, and wait until you receive a legitimate ITA (until you actually do have 2 years of work experience, or the cutoff drops below 457.)

If you were to receive ITA in the next draw, and submit your eAPR, your application would simply be rejected once the VO examines your work experience.

I just don't understand why we can't enter the exact date of starting work experience, it would make it easier for both sides and this wouldn't happen.

I started my work on November 18th so I assume I can accept the ITA in the following draw after that date (most likely Wednesday, November 30) if the cutoff is equal or below 482. But I also read that in cases like this one, when it's really close to another year of experience, you can just explain it to VO by sending "Letter of Explanation" explaining that you worked overtime. I have worked many overtime hours and CIC counts 1 year experience as 1560 hours only...

I think I understand now, even the system of counting should be more sophisticated. Thank you very much Istari! :)

Agreed. No reason this could not be done.

Correct, assuming you worked full-time.

Ah, what? that is just not true. IRCC specifically does NOT recognize "overtime,"as in "work in excess" You are either full-time (30 OR MORE hours per week), or you are part-time. 30 = 40= 80 hours per week, all the same - full time.

Make sure you meet the one year requirement.

Yes it's a bug in their system, don't fall for it, some people have been rejected due to this error. 482 is a good score, you just need to hold on and decline ita until you have really gathered 2 year experience. After that you should get another invitation, accept it and submit your profile. Good luck!

As jes_ON says, this is completely untrue.
You must have at least 1560 hours and 52 weeks.

Hi everyone,

This may sound like a silly question but I just want to confirm my understanding.

My PGWP was issued on October 18, 2015, and I have been working full-time legally since that day (I started working full-time on implied status a few months before that but I did not count any of that). Is it correct that I will have been working for one full year after October 18, 2016?

I have been declining ITA a few times now and am impatiently waiting until after October 18 to be able to accept ITA.

If I receive ITA in the next few rounds, should I accept ITA from the draw on October 19 or should I wait until the draw on November 2 to be safe?

Hi.

If you receive your PGWP on Oct 18, it should be fine for draw Oct 19.

You say that some people have been rejected due to this error. Do we somehow know in percantage, how many? Or is it just one out of 100 cases? The thing is, that I'm in implied status which will expire in about 3 weeks while my 2 year work experience would be on November 18th so I don't have time to wait. I'm an analyst in Vancouver, have been here for more than 2 years, have my car, own apartment etc... I have a lot to loose if my implied status expires before I receive an ITA, which will most likely happen. If you were me, would you risk it and accept the ITA regardless?

We don't know percentages. But VOs are very particular about your work experience.

That said. As far as I know, this is not something you are going to be banned from Canada for 5 years for. At worst, I think, your application will simply be rejected. After which, you can apply again immediately.

So, as I see it, your choices are either:
- have a CRS too low, don't receive ITA before your implied status expires, and have to return to your home country
or
- risk it, possibly receive PR or possibly have your application rejected and have to return to your home country.

If I were in your situation, and these were my two choices, I'd risk it.

But there might be other risks and consequences that I'm not seeing. Maybe a senior could weigh in.

Is it possible that I can submit supplement proof for that? I cannot ask them to do the letter again.

Those are two major omissions. Was the letter written after your employment terminated? (Does it have a date on the top?) Does it include duties/responsibilities and hours worked per week?

Supplementary documentation could include the Record of Employment from Service Canada, your T4s, a letter from a (former) colleague...
