Does CIC call to the job to check offer validity once applied for extension?

Hi! I am seeking some prof advice. I quit my previous job and wanted to renew my WP for a new employer, because I wanted to stay in Canada for more, but legally, so I applied for it before my current WP expired. It takes nowadays more than 55 days to process, so it has not been processed yet. Meanwhile, I got into quarrel with the employer (pls don't ask me why), and I am afraid I would not be hired. What I am afraid of that if and when CIC calls to my employer to check the job offer letter, the latter will tell them some sh*t about me over the phone. This job offer has nothing to do with immigration and is LMO-free. Does anybody know if CIC calls to workplaces at random to check the job offers validity once considered the applications to renew or to extend Work Permits? I'd appreciate any personal experience on the matter. One more question: what happenens if they issue me a Closed WP for that particular company, but I won't be able to work there. Will they cancel it somehow and kick me out of here? Thank you for sharing and good luck to all!

a precise and professional advice do really comes from professional help like campbell cohen immigration law firm.

so far we at this forum are mostly closed work permit or jobs entails with lmo. with your category as lmo free, maybe try other immigration forum that befits your category. it will be more applicable and can really shed light on the matter...i mean good and this is just my one cent piece of my piece...

Thank you for your suggestions! I talked once to cohen law guys over the phone in the past on a different subject. They played too safe. In my case it would be good to listen to some live stories rather than to worst scenarios, designed by lawyers. As to this particular forum, it is dedicated to Foreign Workers theme, which is the closed one to what I am asking about. I don't know other forums, so rich and full of information to be compared with canadavisa.com

If they issue a closed work permit and you go an work for another employer - then you will be working illegally and will be deportable.

i hope tanuki you see light while trekking the tunnel...

in my own experience as tfw under cwp; with regards to vo that verifies, i got an experience when i was in my hometown and a delay of processing my papers gave the vo to verify if my employer is still up to take me. God is good, praise the Lord, both my employer and the vo gave me a thumbs up...

hopefully and may God forbids; your employer will not make an initiative action to report the matter over the aborted employer-employee status of yours and them (employer.) in the cic...

the sun shines and it's rays all are over, the vast surrounding is so bright finding lots of places at your pick!

if you dont have LMO which im not familiar with...they might check the job offer if its real and genuine. Normally they dont check when theres an LMO attatched. but as you said you will not work with them anymore so probably the best option is to find another job offer while you are waiting for the decision of the wp. if you are lucky you got that wp you are authorized to stay in Canada as long as its valid. if its refused you have option to apply for restoration and apply for visitors visa until you find a new employer with new wp. correct me if im wrong about restoration.

Yes, I am aware of that. But what if I will stay in Canada without working for any different employer? Will it be legal? I guess the anwer is yes.

Yes, you are quite right about the restoration of status. I could wait for the refusal (if any), and I will have 90 days to restore the status (another $150 fee plus extra $200 expense). But having a job or not having a job is not so important. I just wanted to stay here legally for a while. The employer will never contact CIC, I am quite sure about it. He just put some work conditions which I am probably not going to tolerate with. So if CIC would not make a check-up call to him, that would be nice. Since I'd been working on WP in Canada for some years, and I applied for a new closed WP for a new employer from inside Canada, I hope those verification phone calls should not be made because everything seems to be clear enough. I am still interested in hearing any practical experience from those similar to my situation. Thanks to all who gave me their feedbacks here.

for as long as you are not defying any clauses for cwp even if your former employer report you that you are no longer connected to them that's water under the bridge. working or not is not a deal to you but to stay legally. apply any means of staying legally on the options of what will suit you.
