Hey Guys,

Hoping someone can help me crack this. I am applying under CEC class and although I have 4 years of foreign work experience and 1-year Canadian work experience, to avoid extra paperwork, I am only using my Canadian work experience to score the required points. I was checking my CRS score and came across section 6 i.e. work experience has two parts i. In the last ten years, how many years of skilled work experience in Canada do you have? and ii. In the last 10 years, how many total years of skilled work experience do you have?

My question is, does my 1-yr of Canadian work experience qualifies for both the parts above or only for part 1 i.e. how many years of skilled work experience in Canada do you have? If I select 1 year in only part 1 my score is 471 but if I also choose 1 year in part ii my score is 509.

To summarise does 1-yr Canadian Work Experience qualifies for total years of skilled work experience in the last 10 years?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers,
KT

No Canadian experience should only be declared where it is asked for and experience in country other thn Canada has to be declared in the tab below it

i. In the last ten years, how many years of skilled work experience in Canada do you have? - Canadian specific work experience
ii. In the last 10 years, how many total years of skilled work experience do you have? - Foreign work experience, since you do not want to claim this, you can mentioned zero, you should still qualify.

Answer to both questions should be 1 year.

Thanks, bimale4bipeople. This is very helpful. So based on your feedback, I am going to use only my Canadian work experience, and the rest I would include in the personal history section later on. Just a quick follow up question - do I need to submit any reference letter/ any document for my international work exp or only for Canadian experience for which I am claiming points. Also, do I need to add any explanation for why I am not counting my international exp or not required?

Thanks again!

- for work experience mentioned in the personal history you do not need to provide any letter of reference
- no you do need, since you are meeting the minimum requirement of work exp for express entry through your Canadian work exp

Wrong, by doing so u r claiming that u have 1 year in canada and 1 year outside.

It is not wrong the way the question is worded. According to someone, the question used to be 'foreign experience' and then they changed it to 'total work experience'. I would still answer it the way it is asked.

If you answer the way it is asked, the CRS calculator will give OP 1 year of Canadian work experience and 1 year of foreign work experience.

OP should answer "zero" in that question.

Thanks for the clarification DelPiero07. So to summarize, in the Work history of my EE application I should only include my 1 year Canadian work experience and all my foreign experience - I should include later during ITA stage under personal history? Correct?

Thanks,
KT

Correct.

Thanks again DelPiero07 - you're awesome. On the similar topic, I have one more query. While filling my profile, under Intended work in Canada section I came across the question - Does the Applicant have a job offer in Canada? - I am on an open work permit (PGWP) and have been working for over a year in Canada -but I don't have LMIA. Should I select Yes or No? If I select No then I don't get to answer any of the subsequent questions about how long I have worked in Canada and for which company etc?. Does that matter or not?

Thanks a lot!

Kunal
