Why do the medicals we do, go to London instead of straight to Nairobi, Kenya. The physician does the exam in the applicants country, so he/she knows the results. So what's with London getting the medical exam instead of Nairobi. I just feel like its to prolong the process.

Mine too went to Nairobi and we asked the DMP he said for Applicant who lives in South Africa all the Medicals go to London but Ottawa was waiting for me to send them to their office after the Sponsored person would mail them to me. I guess that is what I can say as an experience 4 months agao.

After you do a medical exam, the results first need to be analyzed by a CIC Regional Medical Office (RMO). These RMOs receive ALL medical exams, and basically assign a pass or fail grade depending on the type of PR being applied for, and then send this simplified result to the actual visa office doing the application processing. Remember the visa officers in the worldwide visa offices are NOT doctors or medical experts, so they can't analyze your medical exam on their own.

The only CIC RMOs in the world are: Ottawa, London, Manila, Beijing, Paris, New Delhi. So no matter where in the world your visa office is, medicals will always first go to one of these RMOs. So i guess the London RMO is responsible for apps going through S.Africa.

That explains it all. Di you know how long it takes for these RMO's to analyze a medical exam or a redo medical exam?

Sorry no idea, as CIC doesn't post RMO timelines. Depending on the RMO in question, who knows what their backlog is or how efficient they are.

i am not sure of the timelines however I can add that my wife got her medicals done in late August and by the time we submitted our PR application in early November, the results of the medicals from the RMO were waiting in Ottawa.

Similar story here. Applied in Dec and medicals were passed February at the latest. Sponsor approved but application file hasn't been opened yet.
