Does an 'unfinished' PR application from years ago affect new application?

Hi all,

I am an Australian who was married to a Canadian man eight years ago. We applied for spousal sponsorship while living in Canada which was approved and then applied for Permanent Residency. The process took a while and during that time my husband accepted a job in the UK. As he would be in the UK for a while we decided I would also move to the UK even though I didn't have Canadian permanent residency yet. If I remember correctly I received temporary resident status and received a letter stating they needed an update on any jobs/ study and another medical test.

Well, life went on in the UK and I didn't follow up on it, especially since our relationship broke down and we divorced a couple of years later.

I have since started a family with a French man in Australia and we are interested in immigrating to Canada; perhaps Quebec. I am just wondering if my old application will affect my new one somehow?

No - it won't impact your application. However make sure you reference the old application in the new application - and explain why you never completed the process.

No, does not. as long as it wasn't returned or refused.
