Does 1 year experience have to be continuous in EE Canadian experience class/Federal skill worker?

Under express entry CEC and FSW,
Does the experience need to be continuous or can it be separate and different?

Thank you for your help..

I believe to claim points it needs to be continuous. I've heard you can still qualify under CEC if it's not continuous but I'm not sure. Others will clarify for you.

What counts as 1 year of work experience:
  • 12 months of full-time work:
    • 30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours), OR
  • equal amount in part-time hours, such as:
    • 15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
    • 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)

Hi...
I was working as a finance analyst and had even applied for the Canadian PR under express entry. I had received the ITA (twice) but for some personal reasons had to drop the case.
Later I started my own firm (proprietor) and since Oct 2016 I have been self employed.

My concern is, that if I file a case again, can I show my last employment?
Or will it be rejected on the grounds that it doesn't match with my being self employed now?

Also Now I run a coaching institute...
And if in case I show my self as being self employed , I will have to change my NOC code. Does that have a negative impact?

No it does not need to be continuous but you have to meet the following conditions-

Minimum requirements

You must:
According to the Canadian National Occupational Classification, skilled work experience means:
  • Managerial jobs (skill level 0)
  • Professional jobs (skill type A)
  • Technical jobs and skilled trades (skill type B)
You must show that you performed the duties set out in the lead statement of the occupational description in the National Occupational Classification. This includes all the essential duties and most of the main duties listed.

Self-employment and work experience gained while you were a full-time student (such as a co-op work term) doesn’t count under this program.

It doesn’t say anything about continuous or discontinuous work experience on that page...why is there no clarity?

Thank you

Hello! If someone could help me regarding this, I am applying for CEC.

I have a foreign work experience of 1 year; however, it is from two different employers.

One job is 3 months, and the other job was 9 months. I only had a gap of 1 week in between the two jobs. Would I still be getting some points?

Thanks!!

If they both are NOC 0, A & B jobs and the
Total time spent on both jobs exceed 1,560 hours, you'd be able to get the points on them.

but remember to get the reference letter from your employer, that's really important !! , best of luck !!

Hi all,

I am just a bit confused regarding the work experience reference letter. I have gathered these documents from my previous 2 employers a (1) year ago. If I will get an ITA under the Express Entry - FSW category in August, which marks my 1-year work experience in Canada under PGWP, will my work experience reference letter from the previous 2 employers will still be valid even though I have obtained this document a year ago? I tried checking it on the CIC website but it does not state that it should be the latest reference letter. I need your advice on this part.

Please and thank you in advance.
