Documents returned without a passport from DC Embassy

I applied for my TRV and I received my documents back through USPS mail. But the envelope is missing my passport. Did anyone face this problem? If yes is there a hope to locate the lost passport? I am not sure if it was lost in the embassy or in transit. Having sleepless nights. Please advise if you know anything,

oh sorry to hear that. did u contact consular office in DC? how long did they take to get your package back?
