Hi guys

I'm applying for family class sponsorship for my wife from India.

The country specific documents show I need to submit Birth ceritificate (its from May 2004 update on site)

It also says if birth certificate is registered late also submit other certificates, what does this mean?

Also is Birth certificate is mandatory to submit or can we submit Adhar card and that should help?

My wife doesn't have one and it takes 2-3 months to get

Please help

Thanks

Birth certificate is mandatory. If birth is registered late then there are different requirements.
Also, from India your wife need to fill IMM5562 in county specific requirements.

Refer to the Spousal Sponsorship Checklist section...........SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS FOR SPONSORED PERSONS

1. IDENTITY DOCUMENTS, TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND PASSPORTS
Birth certificates or baptismal certificates for yourself (and all your dependents, if applicable – whether they are accompanying you to Canada or not).

I think you may provide either Birth Certificate OR Baptismal Certificate.

However, if your provided Birth Certificate that was registered late (i.e., birth was not registered as at time of birth or within say 21 days of its occurrence).........then you must include the original baptism certificate and other original documents establishing identity such as:
  • Old school records (Fifth class, Middle standard and Matriculation/secondary school certificate), and
  • Voter's ID card
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

Also, will advice that your wife apply for a Birth Certificate or get Affidavit for Registration of Birth.......its an important document not only for this PR application.

Thanks guys

Baptism certificate doesn't apply for me as I'm muslim

So if we apply for birth certificate right now we would also need to gather the old school records (she got 7th standard & 10th standard certificates)

No voter ID but she got Adhar card document.

The Adhar card document may be accepted in lieu if Voter ID if it establishes identity.

No Baptism certificate

The other school records and Adhar card needs to be Original documents?
