Hi,

My FSW-O Express Entry application is currently stuck in IP-2. I recently got married and I want to add my wife to my application. I have a couple of queries regarding the documentation I need to collect before adding her.

1- I have heard that the points get recalculated after you add your spouse. My points currently are 490. If I add my spouse my points go down to 460-ish. My wife holds a Masters degree and should get a very decent IELTS score as well. If I claim points for her education and IELTS then the points count goes up to 480-ish. My question is do I have to claim points for her education and IELTS or is it optional? If I don't claim points for her education we will still have about 460 points which should be enough. I want to save time and add her to the application because if I claim points for her education, I will have to get her degree verified from WES and wait for IELTS results.

2- What documents will I need other than her degrees and IELTS (if I choose to claim those points)? I am guessing I will need the marriage certificate, police certificates? What else?
