Hi
I am Canadian citizen. My wife is in process of receving PR Card. She gave birth to our baby outside of Canada. So what is the process to bring my child to Canada?
How long the process will take?
Thanks

if you're Canadian, chances are that your baby is also Canadian. You need to apply for his/her certificate of citizenship, and then with that, for his passport.
If he is not Canadian (see on CIC website, if you became a citizen AFTER your son was born for example), then you need to add him/her to your application so he can get a PR at the same time as the mother.
GOod luck,

What you should do is: come to the Canadian embassy/consulate of the country where you reside right now, and apply for your baby's Canadian citizenship certificate, and then apply for a temporary Canadian passport for your baby (explain to the embassy/consulate staff that you all plan to be travelling soon). A temporary passport is valid for, I believe, 1 year only. Last time I asked, it took about 1 month to process a temporary passport.

I have a Canadian (citizen) friend who lives abroad, and he and his wife did the above to get a temporary Canadian passport for their foreign born baby ;).

also, you can ask for urgent processing, explaining that you need to travel with your wife as she will need to land before the expiry of her visa, and most of the time they will expedite the request. Just make sure that you add proofs that the PR is being processed.
