Dear friends,

As from my previous query about Sask Health Services, i made clear by calling the department that they provide the full coverage for newly landed immigrant from the day 1.

Today i also received the email reply of department that says yes they will provide the coverage from the day 1 provided we are moving from outside of Canada. They also say that we will fill up online application form..

But i have a confusion about the documents required for the Health card, which are as follow

1. Legal Entitlement to be in Canada
is it COPR..?

2. Saskatchewan Residency
I don't know how to prove this, i have my brother living in Sask and he has his own house.... how i will show my own residency..?

3. Support of Identity
I think Passport will be enough for this requirement..

Please i need your reply of anyone who moved to sask and gone through this procedure..

Other provinces are the same.

1. Your COPR

2. Utility bill or bank statement sent to you at an SK address. You can start by opening a bank account and ask them to give you a statement right away. Could also be a rental agreement. You can make an agreement with your brother to rent a room at his house.

3. Yes, passport is good

Yes, if the bank agrees to give you a statement right away or print out something for you that states your SK address on it, that is pretty fast.

Your wife and son are your dependents so should be covered on your statement as well. You can open a joint account with your wife too or each your own account. If whatever you have isn't enough, you will have to work with SK health to figure out what they want and how to get it. You are however still covered from the first day so if you do have an emergency before you get your health card, it will be covered.

If you were asked to show proof of funds for your immigration, you should take some cash and proof for your landing. It can be in the form of cash, travellers checks, cashiers check, bank statement etc.
