Document Translation from India via Notary

Hi

I have translated a document from India.
My concern is that I don't have a separate affidavit instead it is a english translation with a number of stamps like:

1. Certified that translation is accurate and signatory is a competent authority vide notaries Act 1952 [Sec ----]

2. XYZ Public Notary
Govt India (IND)

3. Notary seal.

4. Date with Signature

My question is that, Is this a valid form of translation or I still need a separate affidavit ?
Also I did the translation in February 2015, it is already 4 months, is the translation from notary still valid?

I am not 100% sure, but if the translation is from India, you have to provide an affidavit as per CIC website.

If you are here in Canada, go to any Indian notary and get an affidavit to be on safer side, they will charge you around 25-30 dollars.
